Overview - Cornel West’s most famous work where he explains the importance of race in this country. Though I am an avid supporter of Cornel West I found myself disagreeing with a lot of the talking points in this book. Cornel seems to take a rigid liberal, feminist lens to issues in the black community while navigating social issues and political ramifications with more tact and observation.

Theme – Race is a critical subject in this country and cannot be ignored.

Biggest takeaway – I took away from this book an idea and feeling that I am personally becoming more conservative as I get older. If I had read this book when I was in college or even before 2020, I would think of it as a classic. Required reading for everyone but after many realizations I’ve had politically and on community I’ve come to see life through government holding up standards, ideals, morals etc… Not just for change but for stability and the importance of family and what societal and political factors threaten them.

Overall Satisfaction – 7/10 Great writing very good articulation of his points.

Comments on the Author – Cornel West is a prominent intellectual and professor his works have been greatly received by the masses. He is a gem of American culture.
