Policy is how governing works and how laws are formed, brought into practice along with their impact to the common person. Politics however I see is how politicians influence an electorate to vote for them via wide assortments of tactics, stances and posturing. This book does not delve into the rights or wrongs of policies or the pushing of laws to advance ideals held on the left right or center. This book deals solely with the posturing, tactics and stances politicians used in the 90’s to gain seats in the house, control the senate and get into the White House. Steve Kornacki details the history of these strategies explains these politicians background and gives a significant account of “The” politician of the 90’s one of the best politicians and orators of all time Bill Clinton. Bill, Newt Gingrich and Donald Rumsfled are heavily featured in this text along with many others from 90s who were significant. The stories are excellently told along with their political significance this is a fantastic read for anyone who is interested in politics.

Biggest takeaway – Bill Clinton is one of the most recognizable politicians in the world. His work in the 90s really highlights this books themes of political maneuvering. Bill Clinton was able to be taken serious as an intellectual with a southern draw, be seen as a man of the people though he was an Ivy league lawyer, gained immense favor by black people even though he was a southern white man. Bill Clinton was the epitome of a political savant and this book details his ability to have Washington at its feet and gain the White House as a man with great skill and tac for the political.

Overall Satisfaction - 9.3/10 Fantastic book from beginning to end.
